United Nations
The United Nations consists of a number of organisations devoted to humanitarian aid
and assistance. GOAL works in partnership with, and is supported by, the
following UN bodies:
UNICEF
- United Nations Children's fund
UNHCR - Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees
WFP - World Food Programme
ECHO
European Community Humanitarian Office is not an "operational"
organisation as such, but provides assistance through its partners - NGOs,
UN agencies, etc. GOAL is such a partner of the European Community Humanitarian
Office.
Irish
Department of Foreign Affairs
The Irish Government recognises global interdependence and
the need for global responsibility. The Department of Foreign Affairs
supplies GOAL with funds for its development and humanitarian work
British Department
for International Development
The DfID is the British Government's department responsible for promoting
development and the reduction of poverty. DfID supports the development
work of GOAL.
USAID
The United States Agency for International Development is the US
federal government agency that implements America's foreign economic
and humanitarian assistance programmes. USAID supports GOAL's emergency
humanitarian work.
Dtalk (Development Training
and Learning @ Kimmage)
Developmental
Studies Centre, Kimmage, Ireland
Dtalk is a new training and learning programme in Ireland for the
development sector, supported by Development Cooperation Ireland.
It consists of a series of short courses and seminars on a range
of topics from project planning and management, to mediation and
conflict transformation, gender based violence and child protection.
